On the 1 st and 2 nd of October , the INTER.SECT Symposium on Human Migration and Health Assessments – Practice, Evidence and Policy in a Global Context will take place in Berlin. The symposium is organised by the Department of Population Medicine and Health Services Research (AG2) in cooperation with the Research Data Center of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF-FDZ), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Technology and Methods Platform for Networked Medical Research e.V. (TMF e.V.) within the scope of the ERC-funded Consolidator project INTER.SECT. It aims to provide a platform for exchange among actors from the spheres of  practice, policy and research  on national and international levels. Building on keynote insights from leading experts in the field, interdisciplinary discussions will foster focused discussion, aiming to identify challenges and gaps and define the way forward towards more unified, evidence-informed and person-centred practices and policies in the realm of health assessments. Prof. Dr. Kayvan Bozorgmehr has the pleasure of presenting INTER.SECT at the ECSR Network Workshop 2026 – Migrant Health across the Life Course on the 11 th of June 2026. The presentation entitled “Migration trajectories and contextual health effects: rationale, approaches, and challenges” offers the opportunity to contribute to discussions among research and experts in the field of migration health. The workshop, hosted at Nuffield College, University of Oxford by the European Consortium for Sociological Research (ECSR) provides a valuable forum for exchanging ideas on current developments and challenges in the field.

INTER.SECT was represented at this year’s Resettlement Symposium (19th+20iest November 2025) in Berlin by Ann-Kathrin Kächele and Rosani Thambithurai.

On 8 October 2025, the symposium “ Shifting Grounds: Rethinking and navigating the uncertainty of migration trajectories, governance regimes, and research” , held as part of INTER.SECT, took place at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Bielefeld.

INTER.SECT will be represented at the GSMERH Congress in Lisbon with a presentation on the conceptual review on “Uncertainties of the migration trajectory”.

On 8th October 2025, the INTER.SECT partners in collaboration with the Center for Uncertainty Studies (CeUS) are organising a symposium on the multifaceted uncertainties in the context of migration at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) in Bielefeld. The INTER.SECT partners held an internal methods workshop on data linkage and geomasking took place on 6th March 2025 at the TMF premises in Berlin.  Prof. Dr. Rainer Schnell from the University of Duisburg-Essen accompanied the meeting.

The INTER.SECT project was officially launched on 30 September 2024 with a kick-off in Berlin at the premises of TMF.  Actors from policy, research and practice joined the event.
